Land Transport
Satamatics provides highly cost-effective asset tracking and anti-hijack security monitoring for the land transport
and logistics industries. The company's global satellite-based telematics services include direct-to-desktop, end-to-end solutions
that offer unique levels of driver and vehicle security, while enhancing supply chain management.
Combining location tracking, security alarm and status messaging into a single solution, Satamatics' systems - which incorporate
the ultra-compact SAT 101 satellite terminal - can be installed in mobile vehicles, plant and machinery.

SAT 101 - Mobile Satellite Terminal
The SAT 101 miniature mobile satellite terminal delivers a new level of tracking and remote monitoring functionality
with applications across the maritime, transport, security, energy and utilities sectors
The SAT 101 is a key component in a range of customised direct-to-desktop solutions. The ultra-compact technology enables
the position and status of mobile assets, including personnel, to be monitored from any location with an Internet connection.
It also allows industrial installations and remote premises to be monitored and controlled in the same way. Satamatics' low-cost
services generate multiple business benefits, offering significant increases in supply chain management efficiency, as well
as greatly enhanced security, with cost-savings at many levels.
The SAT 101 is programmed to transmit location reports and status messages at regular user-defined intervals. It enables
a constant watch to be kept on the position, direction, speed and security status of mobile assets, and on the performance
and status of remote systems or premises.
Featuring a built-in GPS receiver, and a high degree of integral data processing intelligence, the SAT 101 provides exception-reporting
capabilities that enable the transmission of data only when a particular condition has been met or exceeded. For example,
this could be triggered when a vehicle, ship or lone worker reaches a specific destination, or unexpectedly moves beyond a
designated zone, to provide maximum flexibility across multiple industries. The freight distribution, hire and charter industries
benefit from the security that this high level of asset control can offer. For the shipping industry, the SAT 101 is designed
as an integral part of the Ship Security Alert Systems that are being implemented to meet the requirements of the SOLAS convention
Regulation XI-2/5. The technology also represents a powerful micro-telemetry solution for the oil and gas industries - for
SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) applications and security monitoring.
Solutions utilising the SAT 101 encompass location tracking, security alarm and status messaging, referenced to land mapping
or marine charting applications. Information is delivered direct to desktops or laptops via the Internet, and accessed through
password-protected web interfaces. The new terminal can be installed in mobile vehicles, plant and machinery, and deployed
at fixed sites including buildings and equipment installations. It is also compact and light enough to be carried by individual
personnel, and therefore particularly appropriate for lone-worker situations, for which a manually-operated panic button or
an automatic tumble-sensor can warn of a man-down situation. In these circumstances, the reporting frequency would be increased
to once every few minutes, with the security alert transmissions continuing until help arrived.
The Satamatics SAT 101 terminal incorporates a number of powerful facilities into an ultra-compact transceiver unit:
- Automatic transmission of location reports
- Remotely programmable, with exception-reporting functionality
- Comprehensive interfacing for multi-channel system monitoring
- Flexible powering options for long-term unattended operation
- Miniature format, with low-profile antenna for unobtrusive installation
A two-way communications device, the SAT 101 can be used for text messaging and for remote control. Incorporating a 12-channel
GPS receiver for high-accuracy location reporting, the SAT 101 consumes minimal power for long-term unattended operation,
and can be powered from its battery pack, a local supply, or a solar panel. Effectively, the terminal is "asleep" between
transmissions, hence its low power consumption. By pressing a panic button, the message transmission frequency can be dramatically
increased - for example, to every few minutes, to provide Search and Rescue authorities with rapidly updating position reports.
The SAT 101's ability to interface with a variety of external sensors and systems, combined with its built-in data processing
intelligence, allows status information about parameters such as fuel levels and warnings of illegal door openings to be gathered
and stored, and transmitted direct to the customer. The terminal's ultra-compact dimensions assist with its unobtrusive installation,
and it is supplied complete with a low-profile antenna that maintains satellite contact down to very low elevation angles.
This ensures that full advantage can be taken of the satellite footprints, out to the extremes of their coverage, to ensure
effective service availability throughout the world.
Security and Personnel Safety Monitoring
Security is a prime concern for corporates and organisations all over the world, with homeland security now a national-level
issue for most governments. Satamatics' satellite-based technology operates worldwide, and is completely independent of terrestrial
communication networks, avoiding the problems of range, coverage or service disruption. Comprehensive solutions provide critical
security status reports, alert messaging and location information - for individual personnel, vehicles, premises and industrial
installations. Essential and secure information, for business and for government.

Mobile Asset Security
Satamatics' satellite-based technology, which incorporates an ultra-compact transceiver, can be deployed anywhere in the world to provide location tracking and security alert messaging for the spectrum of mobile
assets - vehicles, plant and machinery, ships, light aircraft and helicopters.
Comprehensive end-to-end solutions deliver location information and security reports referenced to mapping applications.
This allows logistics services, transport managers, fleet and hire operators to receive a regularly updated overview of entire
fleets. The position and multi-parameter status of mobile assets can be monitored from any desktop or laptop with an Internet
connection.
The powerful combination of Satamatics' technology and worldwide communications network enables a constant watch to be
kept on an asset's position, direction, speed and security status, whatever its location.
- Automatic regular transmission of location reports
- Automatic alert messaging when destination reached or when an asset moves beyond an authorised zone
- Automatic alerts can be generated when doors, hatches or load curtains are opened unexpectedly
- Driver's panic-button facility for transmitting anti-theft and anti-hijack security alerts
- Flexible powering options for long-term unattended operation
- Ultra-compact technology enables undetectable installation
Telematics
Here is a picture of our shop. The term telematics was originally created to describe systems that combined computer and
telecommunications systems, to provide a means of acquiring, processing and delivering data. Merging this with the latest
satellite technology has enabled telematics systems to communicate to and from almost any location in the world. Satellite-based
telematics solutions, as offered by Satamatics, can gather and report information regarding any measurable parameter, and
enable real-time global monitoring, tracking, messaging, control and data acquisition.
